April Garris was involved in the porn industry in 2001 for approximately 6 months, and made somewhere between 15 and 20 movies.
She left the porn industry at the end of 2001, but continued to struggle with substance abuse, mental illness, and severe depression.
It wasn't until April came to the Lord in 2005 that she experienced true healing, and has been living in freedom ever since.

Myth #4 – The girls in the porn industry are compensated very well, so it must be very lucrative for them. It's fast, easy money, and they get paid well, so what's the harm?
Ask any girl who has spent time in the porn industry what drew her into porn, and more often than not, she will tell you that it was the money – plain and simple. Without a doubt, the biggest draw of working in porn is the chance to make fast, easy money – and lots of it. In the course of a day, a girl can make hundreds -- even thousands -- of dollars. For someone who knows nothing about the industry, and for whatever reason is desperate for cash, this sounds like an offer that is too good to pass up.

Myth #3 – A girl who makes porn is there of her own volition. No one twists their arm to make them do porn, so they must want to be there.
In the 2 most recent blogs, I addressed the fact that the girls who make pornography do not enjoy the experience. In this blog, I will address how many of these girls are manipulated, even bullied, into making pornography that they do not want to make.

Myth #2 -- Girls who make porn are nymphomaniacs.
I suppose it would be a foregone and logical conclusion to make -- that porn stars who earn their living performing hardcore sex acts in front of the camera must have an insatiable appetite for sex. They are uninhibited, and willing to do anything and everything sexual, so they must love what they do -- and why else would they love it unless they were complete sex fiends?

"Sex-packed porn films featuring freshly-dyed blondes whose evocative eyes say “ I want you ” is quite possibly one of the greatest deceptions of all time. Trust me, I know. I did it all the time and I did it for the lust of power and the love of money. I never liked sex. I never wanted sex and in fact I was more apt to spend time with Jack Daniels than some of the studs I was paid to “fake it” with. That's right none of us freshly-dyed blondes like doing porn. In fact, we hate it. We hate being touched by strangers who care nothing about us... Some women hate it so much you can hear them vomiting in the bathroom between scenes. Others can be found outside smoking an endless chain of Marlboro lights… but the porn industry wants YOU to think we porn actresses love sex. They want you to think we enjoy being degraded by all kinds of repulsive acts."
