Women

In the heart of every woman lies an endless quest for love. We desire to be cherished, to be treasured, to be beautiful, to experience true love in all of its beauty. Pornography is the archrival of that desire, taking those hopes and dreams and reducing them to pure fantasy. Pornography is experienced in different ways, but no matter how we encounter it, we are left wounded and scarred.

WomenSome of us watch in horror as our husbands fall and question if we will ever again be enough for him. Others are crushed as brothers, fathers, and friends fall and we wonder if this is the best we can ever expect- a generation of men lost to lust. There are those of us who find ourselves trapped in pornography, on either side of camera, settling for the filth and fake satisfaction found there.

Nearly 20% of Christian women are addicted to pornography, themselves. Well over half of Christian men are addicted (and some of those men may have wives). Many teenage girls are having sex; others are sexting.

No matter how you slice it, pornography affects us as women and it wounds us as women. It attacks the core of who we are. For many, it leaves us feeling ashamed, alone, dejected, worthless, unable to trust and unable to love. That was the point all along. Pornography is the destroyer of love. It’s intent and purpose is to reach into your heart, your marriage, your self-esteem, to reach into any part of you and get you to buy the lie that this is the best you can ever do. It wants you to believe you are nothing more than a toy in a boy’s playland. With pornography, we, as women, are never enough. We are never pretty enough, never sexy enough, never aggressive enough; we just aren’t enough.

No matter what your encounter with pornography there is hope found in Christ. A hope that can heal your marriage, your relationships, your heart. He alone gives you worth, meaning, and value. He knows you are beautiful because He made you that way.

We want you to know you are not alone where you are. More than that, we know you are there, and we are here to offer hope, encouragement, and resources. It is our desire that you will encounter the radical and life-changing love of Christ and that you will allow Him to restore your joy and the true beauty that comes from being what He made you to be- a woman.

Consider this quote from a former porn addict Jessica Harris

"When I first saw pornography, I was confused. I was thirteen and had happened upon it completely by accident. There was a video with a neat title and I clicked on it, and nearly threw up. There was a physical charge, but that did not cause my addiction. I was curious, so I kept looking, but the pornography just made me sick, so I ventured into the realm of cyber sex and erotica. That is how I got addicted. Those men made me feel loved and accepted, even though I was adjusting myself to be whomever they wanted. They desired me, and that feeling was my addiction. I got into pornography to figure out how to make them happy. When I tried to back out, that is when my body stepped in and said, “No, you have to have this. You have to have this rush.”
